Truth & Reconciliation

Today, on the Sabbath, we honour the Indigenous communities of Canada on this Truth and Reconciliation Day. The Manitoba-Saskatchewan Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church pauses to reflect, remember, and acknowledge the pain and suffering experienced by Indigenous Peoples in our nation’s history.

We offer our utmost solidarity to the Indigenous communities profoundly impacted by the residential school system. We acknowledge the perseverance and fortitude of these communities, who have endured a great deal.

Truth and Reconciliation Day isn’t merely a day for remembrance. It’s a call to action for all Canadians, a call to educate ourselves about the rich history and diverse cultures of Indigenous Peoples and to listen to their stories with open minds and hearts.

We look forward to a future where every child matters, injustices are acknowledged and rectified, and reconciliation is more than just a word but a tangible reality.

We invite you to join us in learning more about the significance of this day and the ongoing efforts towards reconciliation. Many online resources and local events offer opportunities to extend your support.

Let’s take steps together towards reconciliation. Let’s ensure we create a future that genuinely acknowledges, respects, and values the vibrant cultures and essential contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
